As we headed from the south coast of Iceland to Landmannalaugar, the weather was slowly closing in and we could hardly see the mountain tops. We had to cross rivers, climb altitudes and cross valleys. We came across lava fields, huge areas covered with glowing green moss and, as luck would have it, a bit of snow lying around. As most of the land is on the dark side, the stripes of snow helped to create contrasty compositions.
The drive is one of the best in the world and, as planned, I will be doing it again soon.
