Intro
The History
Asturias is a place steeped in history and tradition, inhabited by people with a unique, friendly nature.
Over a thousand years ago Asturias was a kingdom. Today, it is the Principality of Asturias.
Over a thousand years ago, amid high limestone peaks, green mountains, lush forests, mighty rivers and lakes, a kingdom emerged that had thirteen kings, the first of whom was Pelayo. The last was Alfonso III, known as The Great, and for nearly one hundred and fifty years in between the two, a great deal of history – battles included – which was to be decisive in the social and geographical evolution of the Iberian Peninsula as well as that of present day Spain.
The Location
3 cities, 20 fishing towns and numerous historic villages; over 200 beaches and a well-preserved coast with rich cuisine; a veritable Natural Paradise!
The coastal area is both stunning and dramatic; long sandy beaches, hidden caves, secret coves and a spectacular array of sea stacks. Playa de Aguilar, Playa del Silencio, Playa de Las Catedrales, Playa de Mexota and Gueirua are some of the places we will visit.
If you love photographing seascapes under the moody Spanish sky, then Asturias is the place for you. We assure you that Asturias will fulfil all your photographic desires.
Info
The cost for this workshop is £1795 GBP or €2195 EUR or $2370 USD per person. A deposit of £500 or €600 or $700 is required to book your space. The outstanding balance will be requested 12 weeks before the tour date.
The workshop starts on Monday 03 September 2018 at Bilbao airport and ends on the morning of Monday 10 September 2018 at Bilbao airport. Further details in due course.
The group size for this tour is limited to six people. Due to its small size group, this photo tour is designed with inspiration in mind, allowing plenty of time for individual attention by the tutor, making sure you photograph the place under the best light and the best time of day.
All transport during the tour is included in the price. Collection and drop-off at Bilbao Airport are included in the price but only for designated arrival and departure times (details in due time).
Please make sure you know how to use your camera or at least the basic functions – make sure you bring the camera's manual along with you. Focal length of wide angle to 300mm will be required.
A sturdy tripod is strongly recommended. If you need advice on purchasing a tripod, we recommend the Manfrotto 055 or similar. If you own a low budget light aluminium tripod such as Jessops and you are wondering if it is good enough, no, it is not. It will not allow you to trust your gear on it and it will not allow us to help you with tuition.
Neutral Density Graduated filters are highly recommended for balancing exposure difference between land and sky. We recommend a 1.5 stop hard and a 3 stop soft (if you are just starting with filters). Full instruction can be given during the workshop to help you with the correct use of filters.
To get the very best out of your images and the locations, we suggest that you bring a good Neutral Density filter with you such as the Lee Little Stopper or Big Stopper or the Singh-Ray Vari-ND filter for long exposures.
You will need one for longer than 30 seconds exposures.
The weather in Asturias this time of year is mild and warm; cool summer clothing will suffice. Saying that, you will probably need a jacket for those cool early mornings.
Although all 'Inspiring Photography Workshops' clients are covered by our public liability insurance, we recommend that you take your own travel insurance also.
This photo tour does not offer post processing tuition, please see here for further details.

Hello,
I am having a big number birthday in early August and have been looking for a way to celebrate. Asturias is a destination I have had for a long, long time, as my GGGrandfather sailed from Anayo at the age of 14. He went to Cuba to find his uncle, stayed for a while and began a business shipping cattle from Florida. He picked up a wife in Green Turtle Cay, Bahamas. She was British. They married and had one child, eventually moving to Key West and then Fort Myers. 2 years ago, they were put into Florida history as the first settlers of Fort Myers, Florida and by decree of the Florida government, acknowledged by an annual celebration which coincides with the Edison Pageant of Light.

It sounds like a workshop that will interest me. I have a question about meals as I have specific diet requirements. Would like to inquire what options are available in the locations.
Hello Jameel
Can you please give me more details about your diet requirements?
A very nice place …… no doubt.
